The days of summer bring us not only the guys of summer, but the girls of summer as well. Softball originally gained prominence during World War II as a substitute for regular baseball, as women temporary replaced men on baseball diamonds, in answer to the need to continue the baseball tradition. This was done so while men fought in Germany and Japan, fast pitch softball has become just as much a part of the local summer sports.

It is only someone unfamiliar with the sport who disparages it as for the “weaker sex”. The women train as hard as the men before the game, play as hard they do on the diamond, and drink as hard as the men do. The game is definitely not for those that think that softball is any easier due to the bigger ball. Although there are some definite rule changes, as the diamonds are slightly smaller, the game is generally unchanged from its hardball roots.

The equipment is basically the same, although the glove and ball are definitely different. A softball itself is almost twice the size of a standard hardball, and is only soft in comparison to the hardball. Although some other softball variants use a so-called “mush ball” that is extremely soft (so soft that mitts and gloves are not used), the standard softball is definitely not; its construction is still based on that hardball, except that an additional layer of filler material is used. Softball gloves and mitts are also slightly larger than their hardball counterparts are, but otherwise construction is the same.

The other area of debatable change is the softball shirts. Although the shirts used on the field are the same, the shirts worn off the field are generally decorated differently. Whereas a man’s shirt tends towards limited decoration, a woman’s shirt is limited only to her imagination. The means of decoration are limited only by her imagination and ability to procure materials for the shirt; glued-on gems, glitter, and even lace have been known to show up the shirts. Otherwise, like other shirts, there are no limits as to what the shirts say; although there is a definite bias towards game-related witticisms, there are shirts that proclaim status and feminism. Mainly because women are not as limited as men are when it comes to fashion, softball apparel for women has a wider range and can be more expressive than men’s can.

Protective equipment is also a little different; it tends towards more protection than normal hardball, and some areas tend to be more protective than others are. Most notably is the need for masks, which although not universal, do show up a lot, especially when younger players are involved. For that matter, a number of safety precautions are increased as the age of the players get younger, allowing for the potential hazards of the game, However, spiked shoes are usually off the table regardless of age, mainly to protect the catcher as a runner slides into home. Otherwise, there are no other major differences between the two types of baseball.

However, once you are past the equipment differences, fast pitch softball is played virtually the same as hardball. The attitude of any baseball player is not one to be questioned, and either gender is as likely as the other to defend their teams against even the smallest slight. The athletic quotes that mention “Work hard, play harder” are definitely part of the game, and confusing work and play on the baseball diamond is easy to do as adrenalin takes over and powers the player. A good game will always bring cheers, and a great game will be remembered even years afterward, regardless of who played it.

Fastpitch softball is a rapidly growing sport that has gained a lot of popularity it the last 10 years. Everything changed back in 1996 when Women’s fastpitch softball became a sport in the Olympics. Since then, many more people have been interested in playing the sport as well as watching it. If you are not familiar with what it is then just keep reading because we will explain more about it as well as what type of equipment is needed to play. Having proper equipment is very important for helping players to be able to perform to the best of their abilities as well at to protect themselves from hard and injury.

This sport is mostly played by women and is where the core players and fans lie. Young girls can typically start playing fastpitch around the age of six and they can play all the way up into college. Since there is not a professional league college is really the end of the road for most players unless they make an Olympic team. There is a good amount of cities that hold coed fastpitch leagues that both men and women can play in. This is about the only type of fast softball that you will find for older players.

The game has grown a lot in popularity because of the fast and exciting nature of it. Many people are not aware exactly how fast the ball can go. The pitching mound is located much closer to home plate than it is in regular baseball. This means that even though pitch speeds are lower than baseball the ball actually has about equal speed to baseball pitches. As an example if you were to take a 70 mph fast pitch and then a 100 mph baseball pitch these would actually be considered the exact same to the batter. Since the pitcher is closer to the batter a 70 mph pitch is equivalent to a 100 mph pitch in baseball. This really helps you to understand just how good the players are that play.

Like was said above it would be very difficult to play if you did not have the proper softball equipment. This includes several different items with the most common ones being softball gloves and softball bats. Obviously, you need an actual ball, but the officials usually provide these. There is a wide range of softball gloves to choose from. They vary depending on what position you plan to play on defense. If you are a catcher then you should get a different type of glove than a short stop will have. If you are a first baseman then you should have a different type of glove than an outfielder. Therefore, before you can choose your mitt you will need to know what position you most likely will be playing. The next thing you will need is a softball bat. These are designed especially for this sport and you want a length and weight that matches your height and strength. Do not forget to pick out the correct size softball shirts so they will fit all the members of your team properly. It important to be unified as a team so you can identify who is on your team and who is on the other team

The last thing you will need to do is actually practice. If you want to get good at this sport then you will need to put some work in to improve your game. You can find many motivational softball quotes to help inspire you to practice hard so you can become the best you can be. When you hit that game winning hit or strike out that last batter to win the game you will be very happy that you put the hard work in practicing so that you could become a better player.

Fast-pitch softball is a type of softball that is more commonly played by women. They start mostly from 6 years old through their college age. However, male and different fast-pitch leagues also play fast-pitch softball. The ISF or the International Softball Federation is the worldwide governing association of softball and it has recognized 3different pitch speeds and equivalent styles of play- the fast pitch, the medium pitch, and the slow pitch. Fast-pitch softball has been considered as the most competitive form of the sport. It is the way that softball was generally played during the Olympic Games in the years 1996, 2000, 2004, and 2008. It has also been used for college softball and many international championship games such as the ones sponsored by ISF.

In fast-pitch softball, the pitchers throw the ball with an underhand toss and reach a speed from up to 70 miles/hour or 110 km/hour for women, and a faster speed of 85 miles/hour or 137 km/hour for men when thrown from 40-43 feet away. The style of pitching is different from the one that is used for slow-pitch softball. Pitchers in a fast-pitch game throw the ball using a “windmill” pitch. This pitching style brings the ball in a circular movement that starts at the hip then brings it up overhead and goes back down, thus completing the circle. The release of the ball is a very essential part of fast-pitch softball. The pitcher should snap their wrist in an upward direction at the same exact moment that the ball has been centered in the midpoint of his body. Thus, this kind of release will cause a spinning motion on the part of the ball, which will then contribute to an important component of its speed and curve.

The fastball pitch and the other types of pitches that are associated with it are taught in different styles. This mainly depends on the methods of the coach and his players’ abilities. The impact of being able to use these pitches at very high speeds is that it hastens the entire softball game and generates more action, power, and intensity.

For fast-pitch softball tips, one can warm up considerably for about 20- 30 minutes using underhand and overhand styles of throwing. He can start throwing to the catcher at a close distance while slowly moving back. As he is gradually working farther back up to the pitcher’s plate or even beyond, he will notice that he is covering even larger distances. In addition, he should learn the fastball pitch before tackling other pitching styles.
